OK, you've got 20 minutes

Two new US dramas: dismissed

castshot01

This was rubbish.

And so was this. That's a relief. We've got enough things to watch as it is.

Flicked through abc1 the other morning and neither "Now" nor "Next" was Home Improvement. But the show evidently just starting was suddenly interrupted by a trailer for itself. And so order was restored.

That publicity shot for Commander In Chief follows the usual rules for band photos: pretty drummer at the front; ugly keyboard player at the back; ugly lead singer presumably somewhere in between.

Sadly, the last good thing donald Sutherland did was the video for Cloudbusting with the lovely Kate.

Oh come on, he tidied up the cupboard under the stairs without being asked...

The EPG description for Commander In Chief:

Geena Davis stars as the first female US president in this highly acclaimed political drama series. She must fight bitter political opponents while also coping with her role as a wife and mother.

It's the last 11 words that tell me this programme isn't worth watching.

I'm pleased that I missed these two pieces of glossy nonsense. I'm quite a big fan of US imports and with there being so many free to view digital channels around I'm pleased that more are coming our way but these two look like pure and utter bollocks.

Did anyone see The Inside on ITV4 on Friday nights? That has to be the best US crime dramas I've ever seen and was sadly cancelled by the US network (Fox I think - don't quote me on that) before it's first season finished.

Pity - this had all the makings of being a classic and should have run for years. After it's cancellation I'm sure the network put some trashy reality TV programme on in its place.Oh well, I guess there's no accounting for taste.

"Grey's Anatomy" is worth sticking with - it gets better week on week.
