Lights! Etc.!
Not Going Out: the backstage picsA preview of the session taken by set photographer Pete of BAFTA award-winning star, co-writer and executive producer Lee Mack and the bloke who ate oat cakes in Studio 1, Teddington Studios. (Who chose to eat oat cakes!) Apologies for the wacky mucking-about-with-cameras shot. It was the heat of the moment while the crew were eating their dinner. An exclusive glimpse of the NGO set, anyway. It looks just like a real flat!

Great pair of shorts - looking for similar to replace ancient fast-fading Gap khakis. Any ideas?
Thought it pains me to advertise: Next.
Thanks - hope it doesn't pain me to buy:)
I don't know how you will take this - but here goes anyway - you are wonderfully handsome!
verity74 - You obviously haven't seen him in the flesh!
Only kidding, Andrew!!
I was thinking Andrew looked quite spiffing, too. Must be all the... I'm tempted to say macrobiotics, but I know THAT'S not true. Well, you know what I mean.
That has a certain Baddeil and Skinner look to it...
Yes, I must concur - what lovely little legs you have Andrew :^)
Andrew, I recently bought the Bette Davis classic "Hush, Hush... Sweet Charlotte" on DVD. As the disk started to play I was treated to a trailer for "All About Eve". Were those your dulcet tones tellling me of its imminent DVD release?
Is there no end to your talent?!
Good luck with it, I'll probably be listening for anything inspired by things mentioned in the blog. For no reason that I can fathom Lee Mack always reminds me of my friend Nick at middle school - a slightly waspish 11 year old. At what point might you have to start writing a second series?
Herb - good heavens, yes, that is me. I've never heard that All About Eve trailer!
Simon, a decision on the second series could be made as early as the day the BBC see the first episode, or they might wait until the public have seen it (and, eek, the critics - although the numbers will be the clincher, I suspect). If it's a yes, the writing could begin as soon as Christmas. A frightening thought!
I must say it's quite refreshing to hear a trailer which isn't voiced by what sounds like an American man in his late 50's who has chain smoked for the majority of his life!
Have you recorded any more trailers? I'd love to hear you voice one for "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?"
By the way, have you seen any more Seinfeld yet? The one which plays all scenes in reverse order is excellent. You seem to be quite a discerning fan of some US imports. I consider myself a minor expert in this department. Are you open to some suggestions of some shows that you should check out?

I'm working my way through Season Six of Seinfeld at the moment. All About Eve is the only trailer for a film I have ever done, and was never asked back.
Herb, I am up for suggestions by the way ... (we're almost at the end of the Season Six box set!)
I was at the recording for episode 6, Andrew you were looking very serious when we saw you! It was most enjoyable though, and I'm looking forward to the first 5 episodes to fill in some of the gaps now!
Break a leg I beleive is the showbiz term!
The photo of you and Lee on the sofa is so sweet, sort of Men Behaving Very Nicely!
Andrew, I've been meaning to email you for some time about one of my all time favourite programmes.
If you're open to suggestion I would urge (nay, INSIST) that you check out a programme called Alias.
It's a totally different genre from Seinfeld (think 24 meets Mission Impossible meets Buffy meets The Da Vinci Code - except good!) but I guarantee you will be hooked after the first few episodes.
It comes from TV wonderkid JJ Abrams (the man behind Lost) and stars Jennifer Garner as a double agent. I won't give too much of the plot away as it is extremely complex and I wouldn't want to ruin any of it for you.
As I'm typing this I realise I'm not selling it very well but trust me - it's very moreish.
Perhaps if I tell you of some of its many guest stars you may be more interested:
John Hannah, Quentin Tarantino, Roger Moore, Amy Irving, Gina Torres, Lena Olin, Faye Dunnaway, Rutger Hauer, Ethan Hawke, Isabella Rosselini, Mia Maestro, David Cronenberg, Vivica A Fox, Richard Roundtree, Angela Bassett, Peter Berg, Sonia Braga, David Carradine, Joel Grey, Djimon Hounsou, Peggy Lipton, Christian Slater oh, and some bloke called Ricky Gervais have all appeared in it.
It ran for a little more than 100 episodes over the course of 5 years and finished a few months ago. The first two seasons are astonishing and like nothing you'll have ever seen. It started the same time as 24 and frankly, it wees all over it (and that's me talking as a huge 24 fan)
I could wax lyrical about it forever but I won't do that here. Hopefully I've sung its praises enough for you to buy the first season. I think you can pick it up fairly cheaply from Play.com or CD-Wow.
Trust me, it's well worth the investment! Let me know how you get on
:^)
