Glad you enjoyed Volver, Anon. It may be off-topic, but any film that pushes women so much to the fore is a political statement. Volver shows us a feminised world, one that's bonded and supportive and emotionally attuned. What a wonderful world that would be. Apart from the odd careerist like Condoleeza Rice, the trouble with politics and forreign policy in the United States has always been its old boys club. Men will be men.
Loved Volver, and also loved the fact that their united front in the film spilled over into the "real world" when they all received the best actress award at Cannes. Nice touch.
The characters in the film really reminded me of my girlfriend's family. Her mother is one of three sisters and they are always hanging out together (their husbands are no longer around). They form such a formidable force against the world - which my girlfriend gets involved with as well and it's incredible the way the approach and react to set backs and triumphs.
Thanks for the prompt delivery of the assorted prizes from your Sunday show.
I'm not sure how I managed to dress myself before seeing "Bling - The Hip-Hop Jewellery Book" expect some very different pictures of me on the blog soon!
PS. Orynthia thought you might have sent your original "vertigo" artwork as well. I've explained that it will have been sold for millions by now.
The original "artwork" exists on my computer. It's all done with magic. Glad you enjoyed the prizes. I did take care to describe the books on-air as "some terrible books for Christmas." The kind of prizes you can only give away by putting them with some proper prizes!

If only Cheney would go soon too.

Totally off topic but thought I'd mention that I went to see Volver at my local art's cinema (on your recommendation) and it was great.
Thanks
Simon James

All power to 'em.
The beardy guy? You don't mean Santa do you?
No. Rolf Harris.
Thank goodness for that. I thought Bill Bailey's number was up for a moment.
