Night shift

ZZZZZ
Normal service
Hello. Sorry I haven't blogged for a couple of days. I won't be blogging tonight after The Apprentice either. It's because I find myself doing the late shift on 6 Music, filling in for newboy George Lamb, 10pm-1am. Although it is good fun to broadcast that late at night, and it's nice to be back at 6 Music, ooh, a week and a half after being dismissed, the late nights leave me unable to watch the telly in the evening, and very, very tired during the day, when I don't have the luxury of being able to lie in and recharge my batteries, as there's a sitcom to be written, and all sorts of other stuff. At least I'm no longer working the weekends, so there's always Saturday and Sunday, like normal people.

So, I won't even be watching The Apprentice until tomorrow (Thursday) probably. Bear with me. A review will follow as soon as I can physically find the time and energy to do it.

You don't have to keep saying yes, you know!

I'm taking some time off next week, thus am effectively saying a big NO. I'm getting my YESes in this week while I can.

Enjoy your late shift and your weekend. Looking forward to the next Apprentice review though, but do take it easy.

I don't know how people cope with doing regular nightshifts. After having to do a couple this year I was shattered. Maybe if you do it regularly you get more used to it.

I'm agog! You get the elbow from 6Music then - the moment they have an unexpected absence, and need to cover it in a hurry, you bail them out. What a nice man you are, to be sure, Andrew. Just be careful you're not *too* nice. Exploiters *love* nice people!

Hi Andrew - Gwen from These Boots Were Made for Walking suggested that I contact you for advice on getting into freelance writing/journalism. I wrote a post on my blog (http://longayelander.blogspot.com) about my current work problems, and several people suggested that I look into freelancing. Anyway, let me know if you have any suggestions!

Call me selfish, but I'm enjoying hearing you on the George Lamb show (granted, I do have the luxury of 'listen again'). I hope you come back more!

Andrew, much as I enjoy reading your blog, I dont want to kill yourself doing it with all your other work.

By the way, the apprentice episode is quite a good one.

Paul, to put my 6 Music philanthropy into perspective - I do get paid! (And doing the show is good fun. It's just the morning after that hurts!)

Andrew, you say it's the morning after that hurts after a late shift.

I do a quite a few late shifts myself and one way to banish the morning after pain is to get up after midday. Works every time!

It's great news that you manage to find some broadcast work despite your speech impedimentia.

I don't care what Lamacq and Collins said about you (very loudly) in the Yorkshire Grey off Gt. Portland Street. You are doing very well despite all your handicaps.

Keep going, handsome.
