Out again

NGO2 line-up

Rather than starting a new discussion about the sitcom Not Going Out each week, let's just use the original thread. FYI, the second episode, Gay, which was the first one I co-wrote, managed 3.2 million viewers, which was pretty good, and a 16% share, which is actually up on last week's. (Lyndhurst's figures were down, by 0.9 million, but when you start at 5.9 million, you've got viewers to spare!)

Watched this for the first time from start to finish last night, although I'd caught bits of it before. I laughed and I liked it. It feels like a traditional sitcom and right now that suits me fine. I wouldn't say I've had enough of 'Post Partridge' comedies like The Office, Royle Family etc but a change is a good as a rest.

It helps that I like both Lee Evans and Time Vine but the writing and plot are good and some of the one liners excellent.

The IT Crowd was even better mind. It seems to have hit a Father Ted style groove and they are revelling in just being plain daft. Smashing.

Also watched the most recent Saxondale following on from the debate last week (Yes with an open mind). It's truly dreadful. If you can see anything sympathetic in a cross between Jeremy Clarkson and Dave Lee Travis then you are a better than me. Coogan’s insistence on giving the character facial ticks and breathing mannerisms actually interferes with the delivery of some of his better lines. And the wimpy EMO lad was just embarrassingly poor. The reactionary uptight bloke who lives over the road is a much better observed character and should get his own series. But please set it on another street.

Lee Evans? What a tit! Not fond of him at all.

But Lee Mack is good.
