Our boys

C&H3

The third Collings & Herrin Podcast is available, either at the usual link at the British Sitcom Guide, or go to iTunes and subscribe there. (Just put either of our names into the search engine and you'll find it.) Our friend Mark, who we've never met, at the British Sitcom Guide has done some "stats" and says that 1,000 people have subscribed via his site thus far, and that 4,000 other people have downloaded the last podcast. We don't know how much of an impact iTunes has had yet, but thank you very much for indulging us. We hope this week's offers more entertainment, with its loose talk about Prince Harry killing 30 members of the sudoku-loving Taliban and other burning issues of the day, such as Paris Hilton's kitten, the leap year and the Sun's call for the return of capital punishment. Enjoy. It's about 10 seconds longer than the last one.

STOP PRESS! We are number 28 in the iTunes podcast chart. Get in.

I listened via the webpage, and it was indeed splendid, cheeky, fun.

I noticed that the little logolet that appears in the corner of the tab in my Firefox browser is the "Union Jack" (or "Union Flag"). I imagine that this is because it is the BRITISH Comedy Guide, but it was strangely appropriate for such a patriotic podcast, and brought a tear to my eye.

Just downloaded it, it's currently 28th in the iTunes podcast chart and 9 higher than 'Scotland's Funny Bits', so you're beating a whole country - which can't be a bad thing.

Thanks for the tip-off, Paul - I've just been looking at the Top 25 and didn't think of clicking on the link. That is truly amazing.

Now it's riding high in the iTunes chart I'll leap on the bandwgon! Looking forward to listening to it. Any reason why iTunes only has no.3 - what has happened to no.'s 1&2

Rob, if you click on our podcast on iTunes, you're taken to our main page, which has all three podcasts, or should do. Also - when you press "subscribe", doesn't that automatically present all the available editions? (I must check with another podcast.)

I've just checked, Rob, and no, when you subscribe it merely downloads the most recent podcast and automatically adds future ones when you enter iTunes.

All three podcasts are still available to listen to at the British Sitcom Guide.

And, oddly, when you click on our main entry on iTunes, one and two are available, but not three, which is weird. Still, when you subscribe, you definitely get number three. Phew. New worlds.

Not listened to podast 3 yet...but I'd imagine that most of those downloads of #2 are outraged monarchists who at this very moment are planning to seek you out to "whisper" their outrage in your ear

Hello,

Very much enjoyed the podcast again. Let's just pretend that I get to join in making comments on newspaper articles. That one about Nicole Kidman becoming an example to women who want to have a career before they have a baby about age 40. Hold up! She adopted children during her marriage to Tom Cruise - do they not count? Are children only a burden on your career if they result in biological changes? I just checked and she was in her mid-20s when she adopted the two kids, she also admitted to having an ectopic pregnancy early in the marriage (which was when she was 23) an then the miscarriage after divorce, which was, absolutely no doubt about it, Tom's baby. The papers are wrong! Or women in general are wrong! Bloody hell!

I think you're onto the flaw in the media's coverage of this issue, Jenny. Perhaps adopted kids in Hollywood are considered more of a decoration than a responsibility. Like scatter cushions.

When you say, "the papers are wrong!" you might also be onto something.

I think I'm right in saying that it'll only count the downloads through iTunes for chart purposes. If you've had 4,000 downloads directly through the BSG website, you probably should be a lot higher in the iTunes chart. If you want to be the new Ricky Gervais and take over the world, I think you'll have to restrict downloading to through iTunes.

STOP PRESS AGAIN! As of this morning (Sunday), we are at 23 in the comedy podcasts chart and 62 in the all-podcast chart on iTunes.

Up to 46 in the main charts this morning, and 19 in the comedy. Is this what power tastes like?

Glad to hear the podcast steaming up the charts, wait for it to get really popular then start charging like some people have done!

After you mentioning going to A Gaunty show here's a review I found on what appears to be from a UKIP forum by a guy who doesn't seem to a completely hateful racist about how much he didn't like the show.

What's right with it? If it was called Pravda, I wouldn't object.

Just listening to your podcast - excellent stuff - two naughty boys let loose with a microphone!

And L Ron Hubbard's first name is Lafayette, so no wonder he doesn't use it!
