Podcast 5, the Good Friday Special, is now up and running. It's the first weekly one and, thanks to the news, we weren't short of material. We hope you like it. Sorry about the photo. It seemed like a funny idea at the time.
I have just re-posted the photo, with censorship applied using a very basic "retouching" tool in iPhoto. I hope this makes it less offensive and we are non-sexist and hate Nuts. (Even though the picture is from a daily newspaper that is available for children to buy.)
So listen, right, how is it that the tabloids scream foul when foreigners come over here and commit crime, and are then not immediately deported, but when someone with a British passport gets repatriated back here, they go all crazy over it with poor puns? It's as if their values are all upside down.
And as an example of values being upside down, what has the world come to wherein the holding up of a topless lady photo elicits a pained "eeeooo" from Herring, but a cheeky smirk from Collings?
You see, the thing is, it's like your podcast "died" on Good Friday. I fully expect it to rise again this Sunday. As long as no-one uses your podcast as a justification for War then we should be ok. Oh, and please, don't do the next podcast in your pants. Lovely as you are, there has to be a line drawn in the podcast sand somewhere. And it'll only encourage some listeners to send you photos of themselves in their pants in return.
Enjoying the podcasts, boys, and weekly is great, thanks. Don't worry, people are travelling and sitting in front of the TV gorging on chocolate...ratings will shoot up again next week. Need to hear more about the wheat thing, Andrew. (In your face, Herring!) Will give you a plug on Digital Spy cleverly disguised as a 'heads up' for Banter which returns to the airwaves April 3rd, I believe, according to ac.
Two points, neither related to your excellent podcast .
There are two copies of your most recent book listed for sale on eBay. One is in the "biography" sub-class (fair enough), the other is in "educational/ text book"
Hurrah! you have crossed over to the world of academia and self-help. You must be very proud.
Secondly : I see Amazon are pre-selling the "B" paperback of "Corner", due in July - are the publishers planning a major media blitz to coincide with this event ?
Bill - moot point about the "B" paperback of Corner, since there was no media blitz for the "A" format. I'm looking into it. Vanessa Feltz has already invited me onto her show on BBC London to talk about it! It's a start.
I always planned it as a self-help book.
There's a brand new chapter with the new format of TMITC, all about writing sitcoms. Apologies to anyone who bought the first edition. I might come round all your houses individually and read it to you!
You are more than welcome to pop up to read the new chapter of "Corner" but it would mean a round trip of about 1100 miles. Think of your carbon footprint. Probably better to stick it on the podcast. Or e-mail a video of yourself reading it.
Thought you'd like to know that I spotted "Jaz Coleman" from the Match.com adverts in a sugar puffs advert this morning, not sure if it's a new one or not.
Ac: re Heather mills, I take your point about a sexist media, a subset of which is the hostility to virtually any women involved with a Beatle. But Heather Mills doesn’t make it easy to like her, she can’t open her mouth without spinning some silly tale or other, her approach to being given 24 million pounds was a display of pure greed. She tries to claim empathy from normal people but frankly most of us would be more than happy with £24 M. It would by an awful lot of peace and tranquillity, free up all of our time for good causes or even just watching the Wire in our pants.
As to her past a channel 5 documentary a few years ago did layout her past clearly. She was what in C18th would be called a courtesan ie the paid girlfriend of a rich man, the class system in UK means we have grades of prostitution as we have grades of every thing else. The show had interviews with women who worked with her and went to the same parties etc. The thing I find most distasteful about the coverage of HM are all the jokes about her disability, you hear these all the time on "have I got news for you", "the news quiz", "mock week" etc. It’s a tired and sad cliché much like the constant use of Vanessa Feltz as the punchline to jokes about fat people.
As this is a post about the podcast I thought it was reasonable to ask a pointless question! Is this really the first weekly podcast or the second one? Surely as the gap between the last one and this is only a week it makes last weeks the first weekly one even if it didn't realise at the time!

Wow. It must be a good one. We've gone plummeting down the iTunes charts! People must be cancelling their subscriptions!

Joyfeed, I'm laughing at him pretending not to smile. (We are both prudes when it comes down to it.)
Thanks for the seasonal reassurance, bltp!
