Shane and Pete

No, this isn't Shane McGowan and Pete Doherty, as seen backstage at the Kentish Town Forum in this week's NME, it's me and Rich paying tribute to them in order to mark the decaffeinated recording of our fourteenth Collings & Herrin Podcast (that's not my name, that's not my ... name). We finally met Mark, boss of the British Comedy Guide today, who kindly hosts our pre-nervous breakdown ramblings about zoophilia, Crewe and Nantwich, the British Heart Foundation adverts, Ronaldo's Faustian eye pact and Blade Runner-style moving adverts. This podcast is dedicated to him, assuming it's up yet on his website, what with him gallivanting about, drinking orange. (Visit the website, but get it on iTunes as well, just to help us beat the French Maids to the top of the charts.)

Richard looking Dickensian.

Andrew looking like he's just finished his Christmas dinner.

Can I just put in a word for Iron Sky a new Finnish sci-fi film that the film-makers have this week been trying to get funding for at Cannes. Mark Kermode features their trailer on his website bbc.co.uk/markkermode.

It looks great based on the trailer and the pitch:

In 1945, the Nazis went to the Moon.

In 2018 they're coming back.

The trailer is also available on their website (www.ironsky.net)which also contains their daily video blog from Cannes.

It's worth it, just to see great shots of a sinister Nazi space station, 1999 style.

What a load of rambling old bollocks.

Highly entertaining.

For further research of the movie Zoology, do a search for the "Mr. Hands" video.

Hello, sorry if this has been pointed out elsewhere, but I though it was worth mentioning that sex with a dead animal is apparently not illegal.

See the campaign by Hilary Fortnum to change that.

I was walking round the supermarket listening to Friday's podcast and got some very wierd looks when I laughed out loud to your comment about Zippy and George tugging you off - who's up the fucking head you idiot. Brilliant. I quickly left the shop.

Ian is correct in identifying that Rainbow-related remark as beverage spurtingly funny. For this reason I choose to listen to the podcast on my own in a small room at the back of my house. It's not the toilet, but it might as well be, like the dining scene in Bunuel's The Phantom of Liberty.
