Plug

Bloomsbury

My friend Robin Ince would like to draw your attention to this star-studded charity comedy gig that's on this weekend in London. More information here. I have no involvement, but Mark Steel's on, so I'll be there in spirit.

I can't make this weekend :-(

Sounds like a good line-up for a good cause.

Missed Robin at Guilfest last weekend but couldn't miss seeing Senser live. Difficult decision.

BTW, if Mark Steele's there you're not just there in spirit Andrew. You're partly there in voice and also partly there in facial appearance! (I'm sure you get that all the time!)

For previous chapters on my likeness to Mark Steel, see here, and here.

Vocally, your doppleganger is Mark Lawson, who is like a posher sounding Andrew Collins.

Lawson is so not like Collins. Lawson is a fusty-sounding, opinionated, bumbling lefty goody two-shoes, and Collins is... lovely*.

I'll always be first in the queue to praise Mark Lawson. He is a broadcasting hero of mine, along with Danny Baker and Simon Mayo. I wish I had Mark Lawson's brain.

He's a plummy-voiced Collins, quite CLEARLY. But there is more 'back of the throat' action going on with Lawson. Sometimes he becomes inaudible on the radio, with so many of his words getting lost in globules of gloopy, backofthemouth spit.
