He is the walrus

A new dawn. In the 35th Collings & Herrin Podcast Richard turns over a new leaf and promises not to swear or be crude or call me an idiot or talk about having sex with the hole in the bottom of a tortoise during an operation. Within this radical rubric, we cover the George Osbourne/Oleg Deripaska/Peter Mandelson/Nat Rothschild scandal, the historic visit by 14-year-old failed Olympic diver Tom Daley to Sea World in Florida (see: walrus reconstruction above), the thorny issue of sex education for five year olds, the cost of heating a George Foreman grill for 48 hours and the dangers of staying in a hotel designed by Hanna-Barbera.

Andrew, tonight - Mastermind, 8pm. One of the specialist subjects...The Mitford Sisters.

Just saying.

Thanks, Carla. Already primed for that one. The annoying thing is that if I ever get on Mastermind, I won't be able to choose the Mitford Sisters. Unless I am allowed just to choose Diana, or Unity.

Just listened to the podcast in 1-minute fast-forward type chunks, to see the jist of it. I should explain that I don't normally do that, but as my baby son is in the next room I could only do that until I get back to work and put it on my iPod.

Sounds like a good episode - I was whistling the "Quantum of Solace" A&J songwars song all the way round town this morning, I can't get it out of my head either.

Disappointing lack of Richard alphabetically-middle-named Herring banter though! :D

Henweb is referring to a remarkable undertaking of his where he found almost one Richard Herring for every letter of the alphabet, starting with Richard A. Herring, Richard B. Herring etc. We set ourselves a strict one-hour time limit, Henweb! We couldn't cover everything! (Anyway, how do you know we didn't cover it, in one 59-second chunk which you missed? We didn't.)

Hahah! I too have been going around all day singing the Buxton Bond song. It is very catchy.

Hmm, seems like I'm going to have to find those missing 4 (or was it 5?) Richard Herring's then, as 26 will SURELY be enough to garner a conversation! Heck, if I find all 26 I might send them to Jon Gaunt and get in that way...

Since you mentioned it (sort of) on the last podcast, thought this blast from the past might be appreciated:
