These are the badges they gave out at the
CNN party last night. I didn't see many of the red ones worn, not even by New Labour's stormtroopers, who are all right wing, you know.
And this is the cocktails menu.

I ain't never gonna forget it. And I can say that I was "up for Ohio".

Relief... living in the States, I was surprised how much in denial I was until it was announced. My partner started crying from relief. Poor thing lost Studs Terkel, but he's got Obama as President. I hope the outpouring continues - with the state of things, it will take grassroots movements to solve problems, not just "government solutions."
On a less politically euphoric note - the Donkey Dazzler sounds like something Herring would come up with. It sounds... odd...

Oh darn n' gawsh, darlin'! The drinkin' sounds like a poh-litical mahn-field! Y'see, that there downhome southern right-wing cocktail sure looks good to me. And that there Donkey Dazzler sure sounds like ass in a glass. How could a guy or a gal drink to reflect their voting choice in good conscience? I'd have had to have stuck to water - pure and good and refreshing, jus' like Obama! An' honey - surely those there lapel emblems are good ol' fashioned buttons, not badges? God bless America!

Ah, what a great night. This is the first US election I've really followed (thanks to The Daily Show and Colbert Report, who have obviously given me a completely balanced view of the situation). It's probably one of the most important ones too.
Anyone else suffering from the lack of sleep? I think today's a bit of a write-off.
We don't need no stinking badges!
Today would have been a total write-off for me, did I not have work to do. I caught a train to Birmingham at 9.40, having nipped into the BBC to have a shave and clean my teeth and watch a bit more telly in the lobby of Broadcasting House, where I recorded my links for a forthcoming Radio 2 documentary. I was running on fumes, I can tell you, having only had two and a half hours' sleep on my friends' sofa. Then I got the train back to London and have been good for nothing ever since. I tried writing a review for Word magazine on the train, but the words weren't coming!
I'm glad I stayed up - being on your feet is the only way to do it. Had I sat in front of the TV, as usual, I'd have been asleep by midnight probably, as opposed to cheering at a big TV screen in a church around 3am when Obama took Ohio. I am officially too old for this shit.
And now I'm too tired to watch the Daily Show as it goes out. I wouldn't change a thing. Looking forward to tomorrow's election podcast too.
My girlfriend is working on the Obama campaign in New Hampshire and Obama's win is something we are all pretty pleased about.
You should tell your co-podcaster Richard Herring that he should blog about something more worthwhile than his current post. Comedy is all well and good, but this really is a historic moment and one that should be praised.
Mike, my co-podcaster Richard Herring writes his daily blog about the day before. He has thus not yet blogged about the Obama result. However, as a comedian, I think it is only fair that he takes a comedic look at the world around him.
Our podcast, which we have just recorded, covers the Obama election - however, if you think it is not a fit subject to be comedic about, you should not listen to it!
If the other podcasts are anything to go by he should definitely not listen!! I'm up to number 30 so don't have long to go! I also can't wait for Richard's new message, I'm ill at the mo so just lying on the couch, and keep checking his site for the new one!
