Random

MoneyProgrammebooks

Thanks to Peter Fletcher for pointing out that this week's edition of BBC2's The Money Programme was about the publishing industry. It seemed that the programme-makers had created an excellent row of random books to illustrate ... books or something, and iPlayer are using it as the still to illustrate the programme (and will be for six further days). Having just viewed the programme, which is quite interesting, I couldn't see this shot anywhere in it. I don't know where the iPlayer people got it from. Still, you have to take subliminal publicity where you can get it.

Ok how much did you pay them to get two of your books on screen. Obviously wasn't enough to get all three on.
Was an interesting programme and it really demonstrated the power of the celeb biography in propping up quite a large part of the publishing industry. Really surprised at the advances that the likes of Paul O'Grady and Dawn French got and the publishers being totally prepared to actually make no real profit from them.

Nice one. One of your neighbours - The Last Family in England by Matt Haig - is also an ace book.

Also on that shelf is one of the worst books I've ever read, or at least read half of - A Year In The Merde, by Stephen Clarke.

It could be from the BBC Picture Editor's pool on flickr in which corporation staff add their photos so that they might be used on the iplayer.

Andrew, I know that you didn't have any writing credits on yesterday's NGO, but was the line

"...how kittens are all just fur covered sunshine..." one of yours?

:)

Nope. I'm afraid I have no words in any of the other episodes. I thought last night's was really good, though.

Morning All

I'm Ashley, the guy who manages all the images in iPlayer.

This image came from our inhouse picture library as there were no publicity stills available for this programme.

Cheers all

Ashley

"celeb biography"

Does anyone refer to these as "celebiography"?

If not, they should.
