I will be in a field, with some other people, until Monday. Please do not be alarmed if you leave a comment and it does not appear. It is because I am in a field, with some other people, until Monday, and I don't expect to be able to access the Internet during that time. (This is a good thing: I need a holiday.) I have not been to Glastonbury for 14 years, so for all I know, there are free laptops for every reveller, and wi-fi generated by cows. But my phone is too primitive to get me Internet access, so see you at the other side. Unless you are in Glastonbury also, in which case, look out for the Reni hat and the I AM VIRGILIO ANDERSON t-shirt. Enjoy the long weekend, wherever you are.PS: I believe the photograph above was taken at the Glastonbury Festival in 1990. The hairstyle and trainers suggest this.

I hope you have had a wonderful time, Andrew. This weekend is Mr Gorgeous and I's anniversary, too. I started going to Glasto in 92 when I was 11 and met him there in 98, and we're still together. Kept going to the festival until 2007 which broke me. God, I was so miserable. I can't hack sitting in a puddle for 4/5 days any more, and I don't think I'll ever go again. I don't take substances any more and I think that was a part of my being able to enjoy myself despite the mud. There's not really been a hot one since 1995. Well 99 was OK, but apart from that. So Saturday we're going to be climbing a mountain in Brecon then spending that night and Sunday night in a 5 star hotel with health spa. Bliss.
I've only been to one music festival, which was the Lounge On The Farm one near Canterbury. The one lesson I learned was to not go with anyone, that way you can see the acts you want.... otherwise you spend a great deal of time wandering around food stalls and gift tents and just watching bands setting up rather than playing.
Is Emily Evis destroying Glastonbury now that she's slowly taking over? The Killers... Jay-z.... Bruce Springsteen...??? Somebody slightly out of touch is choosing the Saturday night headliners. Maybe it's for the best, the locals will get some peace if fewer people turn up. So will the cattle.
I'll go one day.... maybe....as long as there's a nice B%B near by....I'm not one for camping, eek :o)
Hi Andrew. Hope you had a great time at Glasto. I couldn't go this year :( Typical as 3 of my favorite people are there as punters, Phill Jupitus, Danny Wallace and Virgilio Anderson!
Ps I like your new Wikipic. You look very handsome.
Regards
SWalk
Swells had to go and die as the entire British music press fucked off to Glasto, didn't he? And sign off with a Jacksons lyric, too?
James McMahon did a decent job, but there's no mention of him on the NME front page today. Here's hoping you can post up a Swells obit once you've had the obligatory half-hour shower once you get back.
Just watched some people who think they are gaslights on the telly. They're not bad. Lady GaGa & Kasabian top too. Lot of flags! I am very jealous. Hope you had fun and your tent did you proud.
Andrew Do let us know what it was like. Will you be seeing Blur on Sun. That will be ace.
I fear I will never go as I must sleep on a matress made of eiderdown feathers or I lose my mojo.
Plus I'm scared hoodlums will wee on my tent.
Have fun!
I guess you may have heard it before your trip, but "Midweek" featured the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, born Deborah Vivian Freeman -Mitford
So plenty of Mitford action this week, what with Oswald and Diana's son still threatening the Formula One world with withdrawal of his "bat & ball",should they continue to "call him a Dictator",they must be taking the piss!
Those bleedin' flags spoilt the whole thing. Looked awful on the telly - I'd be right royally pissed off if I'd been standing behind them. Cameras couldn't get a clean head-on shot of Brooce for love nor money. Can I start a 'flag-wavers-to-the-back' campaign?
I think you picked a good year. Some of the more commercially obvious acts put in really good performances.
To be a muso arse, the sound mix on Lily Allen's set was really good...
*fetches mouthwash*
Sod the music…..
What we REALLY need to know is about the Glasto’ cottaging graffiti.
Was Cecil from the British Library there…..???
Did you give your pencil to a needy stranger….???
