In this special
Michael Jackson Podcast (
number 70), we talk about the life of Michael Jackson, the death of Michael Jackson, the Mickey Mouse-style voice of Michael Jackson, the legend of Michael Jackson, the response to Michael Jackson's death, the response of Uri Geller, the response of Debbie Rowe, the response from Glastonbury, the unsuccessful remodelling of Andy Murray, the allure of Flamingo Land, how to keep a baby tapir cool, and why girls kissing girls will disturb EVERY parent. (And for the first time, I actually say the same thing twice on the same podcast, not realising I'd already said it - so listen out for that!) And it's all sponsored by the
Rhythm Festival in Bedford, which you should go to, so you can be in a tent when a famous person on the outside dies.

any one else getting an error downloading 70?
It works for me. Anybody else?
Nope, same here. I'm having issues getting it from comedy.org and iTunes
OK ignore my last comment, it's working fine now. Yay!
yeah its not working for me either.
matt
No ... won't download for me too.
Error here too.
Our technical guru, Orange Mark, has this thing to say: "It appears that an important podcasting staging server run by LibSyn has just crashed ... either that or an ISP link with them. Very unfortunate timing. This is actually affecting loads of podcasts (for example Phill & Phil will be down too) so I imagine it won't be long before engineers have things restored. I'll keep an eye on it."
Although he says it's fixed. Let me know how you get on now.
It was a disappointment browsing the Flamingo Land website. It all seems to be about rides, flogging accommodation and making money; the flamingos that gave it its name barely get a look in.
Worked like a dream for me!
It's working for me too.
BTW First time I've listened in ages; reports of technical malfunctions as marketing tool, anyone?
I have now managed to download it but it still seems to be suffering a technical glitch. Half way thorough it seems to be repeating its self, all I can hear is a man repeating a Michael Jackson anecdote or has Andrew been breathing in something passively at Glastonbury.
Andrew, slightly off topic, I saw your bit about Mollie Sugden on the Guardian Website today and you say
but it seems that the curse of Are You Being Served? has struck again
What curse? Old people die?
Otherwise a nicely written article Thanks. (if that wasn't too patronising).
Adam, my comedy powers must be failing me. I was clearly joking about the "curse" of Are You Being Served - it's an old joke, not even mine. I hoped the line, "as another principal cast member dies at a ripe old age and fades away quietly in their sleep" would help underline it. I don't blame you for skimming it - it's not an important piece of writing - but don't nit-pick until you've read all the sentences in it.
Adam, it seems you are doomed to repeatedly misunderstand the intent of things Andrew writes and force him to explain himself. Try taking things a little less seriously when it's appropriate to do so, or maybe just think things through a little before commenting on them...
Andrew have you or Richard seen Jonny Greenwood's latest post on the Radiohead website?
If so i apologise but its quite the compliment really
I was going to comment, but realised I had nothing to add, other than I enjoyed the podcast. Thanks.
You almost freaked me out last night Andrew. Couldn't sleep, so what better way to pass the midnight hour than listening to the podcast? But then you started on the Michael Jackson in a shop story and I thought I had developed psychic powers, having had an earlier premonition of exactly what you were going to say in my half-awake/half-asleep state. Was all ready to declare myself the new Uri Geller and befriend a fragile pop star, before Richard pulled you up on it and it emerged you had actually said it earlier.
No spoon bending for me then.
hey andrew!
it's not often i become all starry eyed, but whilst working at a certain rail station this morning, I turned around and saw none other then the rt hon Andrew Collins heading through the barriers! funnily enough we do have a lot of cusomers from television, film and radio around our network, but to see yourself was great as a huge fan of the podcast and fully conscripted member of your 'nerd army'. another great podcast this week!

Hi Andrew. First of all congrats on the Adam & Joe fill in. I hope you get some more 6 Music fill ins and then they realise how much they've missed you and you get George Lamb's show and HE gets a kick in the bottom. And I hope it's soon.
Secondly I wanted to ask you about soya nuts, those roasted soya beans. As you have read lots of food books, do you reckon they're a good idea? I don't get a lot of protein as I don't eat much meat, so would they be a good addition to my snacking? How much are they processed, etc? I don't drink soya milk- I have rice milk, actually- as it messed with my menstrual cycle so I'm not sure about these. Thanks.
I thought Adam and Joe were meant to be Danny Wallace today, who is all very lovely-apart from doing too much work with Dom Jolly in my opinion- but it was a pleasant surprise to find you today.
I've got a feeling your exile from 6Music is well and truly over. Did you upset Lesley Douglas at some point during her tenure, as it seems that under the new regime you're back on the Subs Bench.
Have a good weekend.
Funny one this week. I nearly went for a job at Flamingo Land years ago but decided I'd rather stay poor for a while. Cheers... :)
A thought occurred from nowhere this evening ... Jeff Leeson-Cox - Duncan Norvelle fan? (Probably isn't worth mentioning that I was outside at the time and, with the aid of an exercise ball, upside down with feet pointing at pink clouds. Quite poetic though.)
We used to go to Flamingo Land every year on our holidays. Great memories! Never saw any tapir abuse in those days, mind.
I can't believe you were hankering after Coca-Cola after THAT blog post! I just hope it was Fentenmans ;-)
Is Richard looking for a Diet Coke deal?
